The feast of the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary honors Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, the final Glorious Mystery of the Rosary. It’s a beautiful day to reflect on Mary’s humility, holiness, and the reward God gave her for saying “yes.”
Celebrating this feast can help children understand that our heavenly mother is not only close to us—but reigns as a loving queen who always brings us closer to her Son.
Here are some joyful, hands-on ways to celebrate at home!
Crown Mary with Our Printable Craft
Our Crowning Mary Craft invites kids to color, cut, and place a crown on Mary’s head, just like in the Glorious Mysteries. You can use this printable to create a small paper statue or make it part of your home altar or prayer space.
Encourage kids to decorate their crown with glitter, gems, or gold paper to show Mary the honor she deserves.

Have a Royal Tea Party
Honor Mary as Queen with a royal tea party! Set the table with pretty dishes, flowers, and candles, and enjoy simple treats like:
- Finger sandwiches (cucumber, egg salad, PB&J)
- Mini scones or biscuits
- Strawberries and whipped cream
- Lemonade or herbal tea
Invite your children to dress up and celebrate Mary’s queenship with joy and reverence. You can even set a little “throne” for Mary with a statue or image as the centerpiece.

Pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary
The Coronation of Mary is the final Glorious Mystery of the Rosary. Set aside time to pray the full Rosary—or just the Glorious Mysteries—as a family. Talk about how each mystery leads to the joy and glory of heaven, and how Mary’s “yes” made it possible.
If your children are younger, you can pray one decade and explain the mysteries with simple language or pictures.

Sing Marian Hymns and Pray the Litany of Loreto
Add beauty to your celebration by singing one of the Church’s most beloved Marian hymns:
- “Hail Holy Queen” (especially fitting for today!)
- “Salve Regina” (great in Latin or English)
You can also pray the Litany of Loreto, which honors Mary under her many beautiful titles, including Queen of Angels, Queen of All Saints, and Queen of Families.
