The Feast of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year and celebrates Jesus as the ruler of all creation. It is celebrated on the Sunday before the 1st Sunday of Advent. It’s a joyful reminder that Christ’s kingdom is not of this world alone but encompasses every heart that belongs to Him. This feast is a wonderful opportunity to publicly live out your faith and to reflect on Jesus’ kingship with your family.
Here are some simple ways to celebrate Christ the King’s feast day!
Color and Create with Our Christ the King Printables
We’ve created a Christ the King Coloring Page and a Christ the King Banner to help children visualize and celebrate Jesus’ kingship. Hang the banner in your home or classroom as a reminder that Christ reigns over all creation and over every aspect of your family life.

Enjoy “Royal” Foods
Celebrate with foods fit for a king or queen! Since this feast also signals the end of the liturgical year, you can make it special by hosting a small Catholic “New Year’s Eve” party at home. Some ideas for royal-inspired treats:
- Pineapple – its natural crown shape makes it perfect for Christ the King. Slice it and serve as a “royal treat.”
- Mini crown-shaped sandwiches – use a crown-shaped cookie cutter on bread and fill with jam, cheese, or peanut butter.
-
Pie crust mini crowns – cut leftover pie crust into crown shapes, then bake (use an upside down muffin tin to help keep the shape) and drizzle with honey or a little jam for a sweet, simple snack.

Sing Christus Vincit
A beautiful way to celebrate Christ the King is by singing or listening to hymns about Jesus’ kingship, such as Christus Vincit.

Publicly Live Out Your Faith
This feast calls us to proclaim Christ as our King in everyday life. Some ideas include:
- Invite a friend or neighbor to join you at church. Sharing your faith with others is a joyful way to celebrate Christ’s kingship.
- Write a prayer of thanksgiving as a family, thanking Christ for His reign over your hearts and homes
- Attend Mass or Adoration to honor Christ publicly as King of the Universe
-
Make a mini paper crown to place on any Jesus statues or images you have
