How to Celebrate the Month of the Holy Eucharist

The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith, a precious gift where we encounter the real presence of Jesus. Dedicating a month to honor this sacrament is a beautiful way to deepen our love for Christ. Here are a few meaningful ways to celebrate the Month of the Holy Eucharist with your family.

1. Spend Time in Adoration
One of the most profound ways to honor the Eucharist is by visiting Jesus in Adoration. Whether it’s five minutes or an hour, bringing your children along helps them see that Jesus is truly present. For younger children, explaining what Adoration is and modeling reverence can help them engage. Consider bringing a simple prayer book or a coloring page of the monstrance to keep little hands busy.

2. Play Mass at Home
Children learn best through play, and setting up a home altar is a wonderful way to teach them about the Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. With our printable monstrance, you can demonstrate proper behavior for Adoration, even practicing the benediction that happens. We thrifted a few of our pieces, but our favorite set is from Catechesis of the Good Shepherd — a collection of treasures including an altar cloth, brass pieces, beeswax candles, a snuffer, and a crucifix. We added cruets and a mini offering basket from Dollar Tree, LED candles from Walmart, and a wooden communion host with a bell from Michael’s. You can also find beautiful altar kits from Shining Light Dolls, Worthy of Agape, or other Etsy shops.

3. Enjoy Eucharistic-Themed Treats
Food has a way of making celebrations memorable — especially for children! Here are some simple but meaningful snack ideas with Eucharistic symbolism:
- “Host” Cookies — Round sugar cookies with a small cross piped in white icing. Vanilla wafers and white chocolate icing can work for this as well!
- Bread with Honey — Symbolizing the sweetness of the Eucharist
- Donut “Monstrance” — A round donut with white or gold frosting, or pretzel sticks coming out of the sides and as the stem of the “monstrance”

4. Sing Adoration Hymns
Filling your home with Eucharistic hymns is a simple way to celebrate this month. Songs like Sanctus, Tantum Ergo, Pange Lingua, Adoro te Devote, and O Sacrament Most Holy are timeless ways to reflect on the beauty of the Blessed Sacrament. Whether you sing together as a family or play these hymns during quiet time, they help keep your hearts focused on the gift of the Eucharist.
5. Attend the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday
One of the reasons we commemorate this month as the Month of the Holy Eucharist is because we remember the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Attending the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday is a powerful way to reflect on this gift. This beautiful liturgy not only recalls Christ giving us His Body and Blood but also includes the washing of feet, reminding us of His call to serve.
As you celebrate the Month of the Holy Eucharist, may these simple activities help deepen your family’s love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. How do you plan to honor the Eucharist this month? Let us know in the comments!
